Assurances Robichaud Insurance and its predecessor companies have providing insurance solutions for our clients in Ontario since 1937. We’ve developed strong and lasting relationships with our insurance markets, with some broker contracts having been in place for over 60 years.

The brokerage was originally known as A. Falardeau & Son Insurance Brokers until it was purchased by Paul Ayotte Insurance Broker in 1981 and Guy Robichaud became the general manager.  In 1989, Guy Robichaud  purchased the company from his employer under a pre-arranged agreement.

The firm has experienced strong and sustained growth over the past 17 years.  In 1996 an office was opened in Hearst, a francophone town west of Kapuskasing and east of Thunder Bay.  And in 1997, another office in the town of Marathon, an economic hub on the north shore of Lake Superior located midway between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay.  These new ventures quickly contributed to the growing clientele list of the brokerage.

In May of 1999, the brokerage became a subsidiary of the publicly traded Hub International Limited, with Guy Robichaud named as Regional President for the new subsidiary.  As a member of the large Hub organization, the brokerage was able to extend its service area further into the northern and northwestern areas of the province.

A change in Hub International's business focus prompted Guy Robichaud, with his son Kevin Robichaud as partner, to re-acquire the brokerage (including its satellite offices) and, in 2001, the new corporation was named Assurances Robichaud Insurance.

Another brokerage from Kapuskasing called Demontigny Insurance was acquired in 2002 allowing us access to more insurance markets and a broader selection of insurance options and services for clients.

Our newest office opened in July 2008 in historic downtown Newmarket, and is staffed by brokers who are all commercial insurance specialists.  With the unprecedented increase in commercial, industrial and retail operations as a direct result of the GTA urban sprawl extending into Upper York Region, we identified the need for a higher level of commercial insurance expertise and risk management services to address the increasingly complex requirements of businesses in the area, both existing and new enterprises.  Unlike other brokerages in the area that have historically concentrated on home, auto and life insurance, with only a small, incidental focus on commercial insurance, Robichaud Newmarket is primarily in business to serve your business.  Our brokers aim to become trusted risk advisers to business owners and managers, assisting with both insurance and non-insurance related matters affecting their profitability and success.
